“California’s waiting kids deserve permanent homes.”

Kudos to Focus on the Family, the Christian ministry tasked with upholding Biblical values while offering encouragement and guidance to today’s families. Focus is sponsoring an adoption conference on Saturday, September 19th in a bid to help some of the 127,000 American children waiting to be adopted find homes. That’s the national figure, but California as the nation’s largest state and has thousands of children needing homes themselves.

127,000 American children are waiting for homes, eligible to be adopted by loving families. On September 19th, Focus on the Family in cooperation with California social service agencies, will sponsor an adoption conference at Calvary Chapel Downey from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Thousands Waiting To Be Adopted

Called, the Wait No More conference, the event is scheduled to take place at Calvary Chapel Downey from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Speakers will educate families about adoption as well as address a variety of adjustment issues that go with the decision to adopt. Adoption agencies will be available at the conference to answer questions and help families begin the adoption process if they’re ready.

Working with the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services and Orange County Social Services, Focus on the Family is asking California churches and Christians to get involved.

Getting The Word Out To Churches

“Our message is simple,” said Kelly Rosati, senior director of the Sanctity of Human Life division at Focus on the Family. “California’s waiting kids deserve permanent homes. If even a portion of California’s more than 10,000 churches got involved, this problem could be solved.”

The conference is free, but attendees need to pre-register. For more information or to register, visit www.iCareAboutOrphans.org. Please visit the Calvary Chapel Downey website to get directions to the church.

My friends are adopting a baby right now. I was fortunate enough to do the notary for their paperwork and letters of reference. Most of the notaries I do don’t make a difference in the world. However, playing even a small role in the life-affirming adoption process was incredibly significant to me because of the impact this adoption would have on a child in so much need.

What a blessing, Dennis! I’m glad that you were able to partake in this all important process — I know how difficult and time consuming it is as we have two children via adoption. And, I remember the notary public (our neighbor) who cheerfully helped us out.
