Chapman Concert Details Unfold
Earlier this month, WordJourney reported that Christian music artist Steven Curtis Chapman will be headlining an event to benefit orphans on November 8th (4-6 p.m. CST). Cry of the Orphan is to be simulcasted from Nashville, for viewing on television and online. Radio stations will also be airing the event.
Fourth Unified Campaign
Chapman heads up an adoption advocacy group called Shaohannah’s Hope (Show Hope). The Cry of the Orphan effort is sponsored by Chapman’s group as well as Focus on the Family and Hope for Orphans (Family Life). This year’s event represents the fourth annual unified campaign, created to raise awareness of the more than140 million children from around the world who are parentless.
In addition to Chapman, musical guests will include Geoff Moore and the Children of the World Choir. Guest speakers include Jim Daly (Focus on the Family), Dennis Rainey (FamilyLife), Jedd Medefind (Christian Alliance for Orphans) and Dr. Sharen Ford (Colorado Division of Child Welfare Services).
Shining The Light
A number of Christian ministries and organizations are already shining the light on the Cry of the Orphan campaign including Crown Financial Services.
This month and next, the FamilyLife Today and Focus on the Family radio shows will devote some of their daily broadcasts to help share information about orphan care issues. Additionally, the Cry of the Orphan campaign will utilize the combined efforts of the Christian Alliance for Orphans and other leading Christian media ministries and advocates.
