I didn't know about Operation Christmas Child, until our local newspaper ran a piece on it. I was so excited to fill a few boxes for the children. I finished within a few days of reading the article and went to the church that was in charge... but I was too late. The silly paper had ran the piece the last day of the project!! :-( I was so sad. But I do have it on my 2010 calender and will be on time every year from now on. What a neat project it is...

This morning when I got up at 5 it was 7 degrees! Like who likes that kind of weather - except maybe Sarah Palin!?

Yes, warmer weather would be nice.

Yikes! That is cold weather, Dominique. A little global warming would be nice. Sounds like you are in for a bit of climate change, though! ;-)

If we drop below zero, I have been told that, that would break records. In the 15 years I have lived here, I don't remember it ever being consistently cold like this. Thank God we are looking at 30s and 40s this coming week. I have had enough of the brutal cold.

Not really record snows, but the snow on Christmas Eve was the most snow we have seen in several years. Mostly, we get ice and freezing rain around here. Now, if we go back to when I was in high school in the late 1970s, that was some snowfall.

Right now it is 18°, on it's way to 5° tonight. Gonna be cccccooooollllldddd!!!!!

Larry, I have been watching on the news how cold and snowy it is in Oklahoma. I am wondering if you are seeing some of the deepest snow levels in recent memory?

I think God does have a sense of humor, albeit a serious one. Sometimes, he just has to show us mere mortals who is in charge. The idea that we can have enough influence over the Earth and it's climate to do serious harm is simply not true. God is truly in control.

They are wonderful, Dominique. My kids are understanding all that they do as my wife has been encouraging them to give to these kettles.

Yes, the photo is priceless! The earth is burning up while us mortals are freezing. Huh?!

I actually worked with the Salvation Army after 9-11. I saw an amazing organization. Now, whenever I see the red kettle, I make sure I leave a little something extra.

Great Post. Love the photo!
