Toward Authentic, Godly Fellowship
Did you know that God loves you? Do you fully comprehend what that means?
I will venture to say that many Christians don’t quite grasp God’s love for them. If they did, then their behavior toward themselves and others would be markedly different. Instead, some people seem unhappy with themselves, angry with the world or both.

Don't allow worry to rob you of your peace.
Admittedly, I’ve struggled myself to comprehend God’s love…sometimes I feel so separated from that love while other times I’m simply in awe that He is always faithful and merciful. That’s especially evident when I fall short; a too frequent occurrence.
We don’t deserve His goodness, yet he continues to bless us with what we need in this life. Certainly, there are many disasters, wars, pestilences and bad economic times to go around. Yet, through it all God remains faithful, a shining beacon in an increasingly darkening world.
I was reminded in a sermon recently that “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.” It is easy to choose fear, forget that He has empowered us with the gift of prayer, that His love cannot be contained and that we don’t have to worry ourselves crazy over anything.
Yet, we do worry which means we need to continually call upon God for His help.
In Luke 12:8, we’re told that if we confess God before men, then God will confess us before the angels. Conversely, if we don’t confess God before men, then he won’t confess us before the angels.
I don’t think this means that if we don’t always boldly witness for God that He’ll deny us as His sons. Sharing our faith overtly is important, as is living our lives as if God is working in and through us. I’ve seen lots of people share their faith, but when it comes to living lives pleasing to God, there is some sort of disconnect there.
Most definitely, live your life as unto the Lord and take advantage of opportunities to testify of God’s love to family members, friends, neighbors, strangers and others. Time is clearly short…we need to be more active in our faith.
One thing we “modern” Christians need to be mindful of is covetousness and how our possessions, position and power can get in the way of God working in our lives. In Matthew 6:19-21, we are reminded not to not store up our treasures here on earth. Instead, we should be laying up our treasures in heaven.
When we have our treasures in the right place, in the care of God, our fellowship with God benefits as we put everything in its right perspective. Moth and rust do consume much as do a collapsing economy. Those signs should serve as reminders to us that nothing in this life will last except for God and His faithfulness toward us.
